As Craig Ferguson likes to say: "Its a Great Day for America" and it warms my heart when he says it. In fact I start out my day by listening to Kate Smith sing 'God Bless America'. You can listen on YouTube or on a little page I created. Did you know the expression: 'Its not over untill the fat lady sings.' is an unkind epithet but nevertheless a tribute to this Great Lady of Song. I suppose it referred to her weekly tv show.

I'm actually here to blog about small business and opportunities for 'the small guy or gal' to start and promote online income ventures. I am frankly one of these struggling small people and I hope to discuss the relevant issues in an open and honest fashion. As time goes by I hope to gain authority but never become dogmatic. I wholeheartedly appreciate any comments and corrections from fellow students and/or more knowledgeable folks. I also reserve the right to insert occasional irrelevant jokes, graphics, etc. as my mood dictates.

The Small Business Monitor, published twice yearly by American Express Open, focuses mainly on small business hiring, investment plans and general marketing outlook. This survey points out that about 58% of business owners describe their current status as just "staying afloat". Another 21% describe their status as "sinking". It seems, in fact, that those entrepreneurs who perceive the economy as improving have dropped from 26% to 18% over the last 3 quarters.
Can darker days be ahead? More and more folks think we live in 'end times'.

I suppose you are wondering what the remaining 21% of business owners had to say. These folks are 'Riding High' and flourishing despite the floundering ecomomy. Daniel Kehrer at Business.com believes there are 6 'secrets' behind these successful entrepreneurs and you can check him out.

The Veretekk Automated Marketing System is where my wife and I have chosen to hang our entrepreneurial white hats. This system can't be described in a few sentences, paragraphs or even chapters so Sherry and I will be explaining it in an ongoing effort across many future blogs. I think most people will agree we need to generate thousands of daily leads, create hundreds to thousands of backlinks, continue learning about internet technologies and trends, have an email marketing system that sends many millions of non-spamming email campaigns and, of course, utilize professional web hosting and register numerous domain names. This would be a good starting point in building the foundation of a successful internet marketing effort.

Link Building is best achieved when it's focused on building relationships. It is best to seek out people with interests and needs similar to your own and then just talk to them without an agenda to sell anything. If this is done well you may develop relationships with individuals as well as prominence in online groups or communities. You should not ask for anything or attempt to steer a conversation. It is very possible to strike up relationships with many like minded folks on these social forums.

Stoney deGeyter wrote an excellent article on Link Building and has included links to a 15 part series on basic aspects of SEO. This is a great primer and it parallels a small part of the no cost Veretekk online curriculum. Check him out:

I want to close with my observations on current events even though my only readers may be my wife and stepson. I notice that "severe oil pollution" has allegedly killed a pod of dolphins and 6 whales - but guess where! In the Persian Gulf! Can it be that our 'addiction' to oil has despoiled other regions of the world and its now our karma to feel the repercussions? Just a thought! I'm done here and am about to order my Dr. Who Vanishing Tardis Cup and also the Dr. Who Sonic Screwdriver Pen. Thank Heaven for Small Favors and "Thank You for allowing me to inflict myself upon you!"

Good Night Mrs. Levinson Wherever You Are!!!
